FOR: Children 6 to 14 years old in any country. Reading materials are in English and Spanish.
As a parent you can register your child individually, or as a teacher you can enroll your entire class or school.
Meet the engine behind the tournament
The Great Reading Tournament is hosted on LightSail, an award-winning digital platform designed to make reading measurable, adaptive, and fun. The platform automatically tracks and logs every minute each participant reads.
With over 10,000 high-quality books in English and Spanish—including fiction, nonfiction, and leveled readers—LightSail gives every child the opportunity to read at their level and grow at their pace.
It's easy to participate!

As a parent, you can register your child individually, or as a teacher, you can enroll your entire class or school. All participants must be signed up by June 5 to join the tournament.

Participants receive 8 weeks of full access to the LightSail digital reading platform—starting one week before the tournament, throughout the 5-week competition, and for two additional weeks afterward. They’ll explore thousands of books in English and Spanish, track their progress, and discover new stories every day.

From June 15 to July 19, children read and compete while strengthening their comprehension skills.

Top readers win amazing prizes, and every participant finishes stronger, more confident, and with a renewed love for reading.

The tournament is completely free thanks to our sponsors.

Teachers can register their entire class or school by filing out the form for each student. Once submitted, we’ll send you instructions on how to access LightSail accounts for all registered students.

Parents can also register their kids by filling out the registration form. After submitting it, you’ll receive an email with your child’s login details and instructions to access the LightSail platform before the tournament begins.
